Today I made a slides presentation about the evolution of football. I talked about how the running game has changed, how sacks are decreasing, how coaches are becoming more offensive minded, how the rules have changed, and lastly how NFL ratings have dropped. All in all, after watching my presentation you should see how the NFL has drastically changed as a league over time.
Comparing and Contrasting the Scientific Method and Design Process
Today I learned about the similarities and differences of the design process and the scientific method. I learned that the scientific method includes making a hypothesis and measuring data, also called finding a dependent variable. The design process is more used to help make steps for a engineer to solve a problem through engineering. Also, the design process is used to refine a problem. Some similarities include trying to solve a problem, and taking a series of steps to ensure good results. All in all, I found making this venn diagram very interesting and informative on the scientific method and the design process.

Colonel Jill Morgenthaler
Colonel Jill was a colonel in the United States army. She was an influence to many people and saved many lives. She is now a speaker who now goes around the country to influence many people. She talked to us about the hardships of her life, and how she got over them. She told us to never give up on our dreams and goals, and that it was very important that you can be a positive person, and make a positive influence on someone´s day. It was super important to me that I was able to see that someone else actually can help motivate me, and the others around me. From this talk, I will now try my very hardest to always believe in myself, and hopefully change the life and mindset of at least one human being to help make their life a memorable and positive one.

STEM Type Test
Today I took the STEM type test. I got the results that I was a designer. To be honest, I was quite surprised when I got my results, but did believe that it was pretty cool that I could actually be interested in a field I had no idea I had interest about. I never looked at myself as a designer, as I always I was better with numbers. Now I will take a bigger look at designing and see if it anything does in fact interest me. All in all, I am really happy that I took this test because it opened up my mind on what my interests might actually be, also the test had many questions that I believed to be interesting.

IMTS Reflection
I really enjoyed the IMTS field trip. I really liked learning about how the engineers were trying to solve problems. One invention I saw was metal cutting. I really liked the metal cutting and thought the metal cutting was very cool. I liked how they found a way to make metal cutting faster and easier. They made many cool things with the metal, and gave away a very cool football, cut out of metal. Another cool place was the polishing booth. The polishing booth showed a new way to polish metals and other materials. The polishing booth used little grains and sand to clean the metals, which I thought was super cool. The problem they were trying to solve is to figure out how to polish metals and other materials much easier. I thought is was very cool to see how all people solved problems, and were able to make life easier for themselves and other people. All in all, I really enjoyed the IMTS field trip, and will hope to be back next time!

Arduino Reflection
This week, I worked on my arduino packet with Zoie Sloneker. I learned how to code the “hello world” code. Also, I learned what the 2 built-in functions of the code were. Next, I learned that adding ln to serial.print makes the code work faster and creates a new line of code. I also learned that making the code stop or pause for a certain amount of time is made by using the function delay. I learned that global variables are located outside of any function and local variables are located inside of a function. Then, I learned how to count from 1-10 and have a message appear that red “blast off”. And then reverse 10-1 and then “blast off” red on the screen. Also, I learned how to write a code so that numbers could count up by 3 starting at 21 and ending at 39. Then, I learned how to write a message stating that “a is greater than b”. Also, I learned how to code a blinking light to alternate with another blinking light, which I thought was very cool. Lastly, I was able to code a light to stay on for a specific amount of time on one light, and a specific amount of time on another light, then the same on the third light, and then repeat. All in all, I really enjoyed working with Zoie on the arduino and learned a lot about the arduino. The arduino was very fun and informational!
